Girls Sports Academy

Girls sport excellence

The Girls Sports Academy and Development program focuses on developing young females as athletes within society and aims to build their sporting abilities in a range of sports as well as focusing on their physical fitness, commitment and health. 

The program is for the elite sporting girls of the school to compete amongst each other and other schools in the region in a selection of competitions specialising in Netball, Touch Football and a variety of other sports.

Selected students participate in a structured program which focuses heavily on skill development. This program operates with the boundaries of the school timetable, lunchtimes and before and after school hours.

The program consists of three levels with the opportunity for advanced students to work in higher levels during sporting competitions.   

Junior Class - Students in year 7-8

Students work within the Australian Curriculum to attain knowledge of health and fitness as well as competing physically at a school level focussing on skill development and game play. 

Development Class - Students in year 9-10

Students work within the Australian Curriculum to achieve high sporting results as well as preparing them academically for Senior Physical Education and Health. Students will compete in range of school based competitions and begin specialising in chosen sports.  

Senior Class - Students in year 10—12

As well as competing at school and regional level in Touch Football and Netball students undertake a program to develop the below skills whilst completing a Cert II in Sports Coaching.
