Smith Family Career's Day at Colgate Palmolive

The Smith family excurision to Colgate Palmolive
The Year 10 iTrack group were lucky enough to be sponsored by the Smith Family to take part in a career day at the Colgate Palmolive factory in Labrador.
The day started in style with a limousine mini-bus (complete with video screens and flashing lights) driving us to the venue. After a short safety induction session we dressed in our safety vests, glasses and ear plugs to tour the factory. We were able to see the production of washing powder from beginning to the final packaging. Mrs Fox was very impressed to see such a product locally made and has vowed to purchase only COLDPOWER, FAB or SPREE washing powder from now on.
We had the opportunity to explore a range of career pathways and learn about our own career styles. A highlight of the day was the session on resumes/CV’s as we were able to see what makes a good resume and find a little about how an employer uses the information on a CV to hire staff.
Working in small groups we went on to identify the career paths of a number of Colgate employees. This was a very creative affair involving art canvas, colours, photos and drawings. When the gallery was complete it was evident that everyone’s career path is unique and there are no ‘right’ or ‘wrong’ turns in this journey.
We would like to thank Erynn and Alex from the Smith Family and the staff of Colgate for organising this fantastic day.
