Junior Council

Year 10 Junior Council Students

On Friday 25th July , a group of Year 10 students participated in the Gold Coast Junior Council program, which introduces and creates better leaders and responsibilities for students in schools along the coast. We joined in with other schools and it was great to see how many enthusiastic young leaders there were throughout the Gold Coast. The program was led by the Council Team, who were also Junior Leaders last year.  This meetings focus was on the Arts and Cultural precinct that is being developed at Evendale park, Bundall, in preparation for the 2018 Commonwealth Games. The plans are enormous and very exciting and even include a new art gallery with a bungee jumping platform from the roof!  After we were shown these plans, we student representatives were asked to brainstorm and put forward what the youth would like to see in the cultural precinct.

If you are going to be in Year 10 next year, and interested in becoming a Junior Council leader, than I highly recommend you be a part of this prestigious event. I’d like to thank those responsible at the Gold Coast council for giving Keebra Park State High School, an opportunity to showcase the brilliance of our school and its community, and Ms Hussein and Mr Fisher for taking us to the meetings.
