High Performance Reading Program

At Keebra Park State High School we consistently expose our students to high quality instruction from passionate teachers, and vary our teaching approaches to cater for the many different learning styles and needs of your children. Our commitment to academic improvement for all students, has led to the development of the High Performance Reading Program. This program will be piloted in term three for all Year 7 and 8 students.  The goal of this program is to provide an intense focus on reading, vocabulary acquisition and comprehension. We understand that many students struggle with reading, whilst others need extending to more rigorous texts. This program is designed to reach all abilities and will be an evolving process.

From term three, English will be structured in the following manner:

•     3 lessons of English curriculum per week. Students will remain in current class groups.

•     3 lessons of High Performance Reading Program (HPRP). Classes will be reshuffled and additional teachers brought in to facilitate the program, including a Reading Support Specialist.

Students will be issued with a new timetable on the first day back of school next term.
