Gold Coast Junior Secondary Leadership Summit

Keebra's Junior Students attend a Leadership Summit

On the 28th and 29th of May, four Junior Secondary leaders had the opportunity to attend the Runaway Bay Sport and Leadership Centre for the first ever Gold Coast Junior Secondary Leadership Summit.  At this camp, we met with other leaders from schools around the Gold Coast and participated in leadership activities to build our leadership qualities and skills.  These activities included: The Amazing Race and the GRIT Olympics, where we had the challenge of guiding team members that had arms or legs tied together or were blindfolded.  This activity made us aware of the difficulties of having a disability.  After this, we were more appreciative of being fit and healthy ourselves and had more respect for those with a disability.  We also had the privilege of meeting inspiring people such as Jethro and Tim from Mates 4 Mates, they shared Jethro’s life changing story of how he had to step up and look after his five children and a dying wife with only two functioning limbs.  We also had Holly Ferling, an Australian cricketer, talk to us about not giving up on the end goal. In the end it was a privilege to have the opportunity to participate and meet other leaders involved in this summit.
