The English as an Additional Language/Dialect  EAL/D Unit welcomes students from all over the world. Our school community is truly enriched by these wonderfully unique cultures. All teaching staff are dedicated to creating a safe and nurturing environment and ensure that the classrooms are and supportive for students of all nationalities. Teachers and students please take the time to listen to and share their stories.

Recently, many of our students have had the opportunity to participate in various work experience programs and traineeships. To mention a few, Supattra is currently completing work experience in the International Office; Roselyn and Shara are gaining experience at the Royal Thai Hut; and Yudo, Fadhil, and Aryan are completing traineeships in LightMare Studios. Other students are also currently completing certificates in Media and Tourism and Hospitality.

Our students are also currently excelling in their Mainstream classes. During Week 7, our Junior EAL/D students had the opportunity to visit Mrs Werda’s Year 11 EAL/D classroom as the audience for their performance tasks. Year 11 students have been studying the text “Looking for Allibrandi” written by Malina Marchetta. Mrs Govender has taught most of these students since they arrived in Year 8. Upon arrival, many were shy and unable to converse. After watching their performances, Mrs Govender commented that she was “swollen with pride”. All students were confident and performed beautifully throughout. Well done students! You have set a very high language standard for the younger years to follow.
