Tyalgum Ridge Retreat - 7th - 9th November 2016

Aims: Leadership, Resilience, Team-Building, Communication.

Outline: Trekking, orienteering, raft building, team work activities and challenges, mountain bike riding, archery.

As a part of the Academic Excellence Program the Year 8 Academic Excellence students had a camp to Tyalgum Ridge Retreat in Northern NSW. The aims of the camp were to build leadership, teamwork and resilience through a range of challenging and fun activities. The camp began with a hard trek, led by their bearded guide “Hagrid”. Hagrid took the kids through the bushes and pushed them to their physical limits which culminated at Heart-Break Hill. The students showed their resilience and never gave up which made us proud. The students then had to work together in setting up tents, building fires and cooking their own meals before spending a lovely night camping out under the stars. After their hard trek it was onto the fun and games such as raft building, orienteering, team-work challenges, mountain bike riding and archery. The students had a fantastic time and it was a pleasure to take them away as they were always well-behaved, polite and co-operative.
