Student
Pathways
Our belief that ‘ each student’s pathway is important to us whether it be to further training, work or tertiary study’ means our curriculum is responsive to the future needs of our students while recognising the need for knowledge of the basics of literacy, numeracy and technology skills. Secondary schooling is a five year experience which allows students to discover their special talents and interests and to pursue them for a fulfilling life of employment and active citizenship. The Middle Phase of Learning(Years 8 &9) affords students the opportunity to explore what they need , what they are good at, and what they like. Once the Senior Phase of Learning is entered, the most fitting and appropriate pathway to the successful completion of Year 12 is negotiated between the school, parents and the young person. Deciding on and achieving success in a chosen pathway is not left to chance. Keebra provides a very structured approach providing Career and Work education and advice, Guidance support, work experience, opportunites for School Based Traineeships and Apprenticeships, Try-A-Trade opportunities, Vocational Education Certificate courses, co-operative TAFE options, academic extension learning opportunitiesand University Learning experiences.Regular contact with tertiary institutions and training organisations are part of the curriculum. Our school values these special Partnerships as they provide the future pathways for our students. A Community Liaison Officer and Senior Schooling HOD are employed to support students in the transition from school to work. Traineeships and school based apprenticeships are encouraged especially for vocational students, with academic students having opportunity to accelerate through the curriculum to participate in University study while at school.
