Technology One Website Queensland Champions Congratulations to our team of Caitlin Armstrong , Alexandra Bose, Tony Bose and Jack Reichelt who have just won the Technology One Website competition. For the past year these budding software engineers have designed and developed a website for the Queensland Epilepsy Association to assist us in understanding and learning more about epilepsy. Their efforts are quite remarkable considering these talented Year 8 and 9 Plus pathway students were competing against senior students form some of Queensland’s leading private schools. Clearly the addition of our online games and quizzes coupled with Flash presentation and an attractive design were too much for other schools to compete with. For their efforts they have won individual $150 Coles Myers Vouchers, a new PC for the school, $2000 worth of books for the schools and their own domain name! Check
out their site at Sharemarket Investor hits the big time! Each year, students enter into the Australian Stock Exchange game, where they use $50 000 imaginary funds and invest it into real companies. The game teaches students how market forces affect the prices of shares, and how quickly their money can be gobbled up with brokerage fees. Since the game began, Shane’s partners left the subject, and Shane made the complex investment decisions on his own. As the game finished, we were delighted to see Shane’s investments have earned him the ranking of 82 from 2914 Queensland teams. More impressively, he ranked 443 out of just under 20 000 competitors in the National level. This is the first time our students have attained such a high ranking within the state. We can’t wait until next year’s
game, so we can get some investment tips of our own from him. Congratulations,
Shane. Australasian Financial Literacy Assessment Students from Keebra Park demonstrated their outstanding level of awareness, understanding and skill recently when they participated in the 2006 Australian Financial Literacy Assessment. More than 43000 year 8 and 9 students throughout Australia competed in this challenge. Keebra is excited to announce the outstanding
