Park SHS is located in Anne St Southport.
Surfside
Buslines
services the Gold Coast area from Oxenford to Coolangatta. For further
information on bus routes and times contact Surfside Buslines on 55
716 555.
At
the start of the school year, all school bus drivers distribute applications
for bus passes for regular users. Students who enrol later in the
year will need to ask the bus driver or contact Surfside.

GUIDANCE
COUNSELLOR
Mr Mark Siddle is available for appointments regarding school issues
and confidential personal counselling. Parents and students are encouraged
to make appointments through the school office.
YOUTH SUPPORT COORDINATOR
Mr Matthew Bentley is available for appointments for students and
their families who may be experiencing difficulties at home, with
friends or other parts of their lives. Appointments may be made through
the school office.
YOUTH PATHWAYS OFFICER
Ms Amy Halliday works with young people enrolled at school to assist
them to complete Year 12 or its equivalent by assisting them with
developing vocational pathways.
SCHOOL BASED YOUTH HEALTH NURSE
Ms Sue Koenig is available for appointments regarding personal health
issues, nutrition advice, vision and hearing tests.
COMMUNITY LIAISON OFFICER
The Community Liaison Officer works to support students who wish to
undertake school based traineeships and apprenticeships. Appointments
with Ms Kershaw may be made through the school office.
INTERNATIONAL CO-ORDINATOR
The International Co-ordinator supports International students in
the following areas: curriculum, home stays and general welfare. Appointments
with Ms Kershaw may be made through the school office.
INDIGENOUS SUPPORT OFFICER
Bev Anderson works with Indigenous young people enrolled at Keebra
Park to assist them to optimise learning outcomes. Appointments may
be made through the school office
DEC
The Development and Extension Centre is led by Resource teacher, Ms
Melissa Betts. DEC provides learning support for students who experience
learning difficulty. Appointments may be made via the school office.
ADVISORY VISITING TEACHER
Ms Majella Lynch visits the school once per week to assist students
with a disability (as identified through the Education Adjustment
Process). Appointments with her may be made via the school office.
HOME GROUP TEACHER
Each student will be allocated to a Home Group according to Surname
and House allocation. Home Group Teachers meet with students each
morning to register attendance, communicate daily routine information
and generally monitor student welfare.
YEAR CO-ORDINATOR
Each Year level has a Year Co-ordinator who has broad student monitoring
responsibilities. Year Co-ordinators monitor attendance, standards
of uniform and behaviour and generally provide for the welfare of
the students of that year level.
Facilities
and Resources
The
school has excellent resources. In the sporting arena, we have a Touch
Oval, Soccer / Hockey Oval and two Rugby League ovals, Cricket nets
and Tennis courts. The Keebra Activity Centre currently hosts a fully
equipped gymnasium, Volleyball Courts, Badminton courts, Basketball
court and plenty of sporting equipment including team necessities,
table tennis tables, bats, racquets, balls etc. The Keebra Activity Centre has been upgraded and provides a sports floor, classroom, State of the Art gymnasium and kitchen.
Information & Communication Technology (ICTs) are well used within
the school and their use is embedded across all subjects. The student
/ computer ratio is 3.6 : 1 and the machines are sited across the
school in hubs (in most teaching blocks) in Laboratories (3) and in
the Library. Internet connections are available in all teaching blocks
except the Keebra Activity Centre and wireless access is available in most of the school.
The school library is air conditioned and contains a huge selection of print and digital media to support student learning.
Other subjects are equally well resourced. Science has 6 specialised
Laboratories, Art has 2 purpose built rooms (including a kiln room),
Dance has a mirrored wall and wooden floor as does Drama. Music has
a dedicated teaching space and equipment storage.
Manual
Arts and Home Economics are particularly well catered for with a two
woodwork rooms, a metal work room, CAD (computer aided design) for
Graphics and a Senior Workshop. Home Economics sports 2 kitchens,
a dining room, laundry and textiles rooms.
